New Bolar Drug
The Bolar Pharmaceutical Company said it had received approval from the Food and Drug Admnistration to make and market tablets of methyclothiazide with diserpidine.
Bolar said the product is the generic equivalent of Abbott Laboratories' brand Enduronyl and is used as an antihypertensive diuretic. It said that because the product was being made by its Puerto Rican subsidiary, it expected to have higher-than-normal profit margins. On the American Stock Exchange today, Bolar rose 87.5 cents, to $30.75 a share.
